During the period of January 29-30, 2007, the County of Santa Clara conducted the 2007 Santa Clara County Homeless Count. The 2007 Santa Clara County Homeless Project Committee identified several important project goals in preparing for the Homeless Count:
- To increase public awareness of homeless issues and generate support for constructive solutions;
- To improve the ability of policy makers and service providers to plan and implement services that meet the needs of the homeless;
- To preserve current federal funding for homeless services and to enhance the ability to raise new funds.
The data presented in this report provide an updated view of the homeless population in Santa Clara County. The census and survey data will help the County further understand likely causes and contributing factors of homelessness, and thereby, develop the best possible strategies to address remedies and mitigating efforts.
